Naomi Chelangat during National Championships in Ole Ntimama Stadium, Narok County. Naomi Chelangat is a 14 year old girl from a small village called Kipajit, Chemagel Ward in Sotik Sub County. She began her running career while in class five but she has never made it above county level since then. The well known Commonwealth 5,000m Champion Mercy Cherono hails from the same village with Naomi.  Mercy Cherono, Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion   Different from other years, 2023 became a breakthrough year for Naomi when she was in class eight.
