Naomi Chelangat An Upcoming 200m Sprint Race Champion

Naomi Chelangat during National Championships in Ole Ntimama Stadium, Narok County. Naomi Chelangat is a 14 year old girl from a small village called Kipajit, Chemagel Ward in Sotik Sub County. She began her running career while in class five but she has never made it above county level since then. The well known Commonwealth 5,000m Champion Mercy Cherono hails from the same village with Naomi.  Mercy Cherono, Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion   Different from other years, 2023 became a breakthrough year for Naomi when she was in class eight. She will sit for her Kenya Certificate of Primary School Education (KCPE) this year and she hopes to join a National school.  She has specialized in a 200 metres sprint race and she has been in top position since the onset of this year's primary schools athletics competitions. The duo are Mr Gilbert Cheruiyot from Embomos Ward, Konoin and Madam Mercy Chepkoech from Kembu Ward, Bomet East. Speaking at her office, while issuing Teachers Service Commission TSC letters of appointment, County MP confirmed that the two will serve under Permanent and Pension terms (PnP).
