Toto Secured More Slots To Bomet Teachers

Bomet County Women Representative Hon Linet Chepkorir alias Toto has break historical feat by securing two slots for trained teachers from Bomet who previously served on Board of Management BoM terms. The duo are Mr Gilbert Cheruiyot from Embomos Ward, Konoin and Madam Mercy Chepkoech from Kembu Ward, Bomet East.

Speaking at her office, while issuing Teachers Service Commission TSC letters of appointment, County MP confirmed that the two will serve under Permanent and Pension terms (PnP). Hon Toto opined Ministry of Education under CS Ezekiel Machogu leadership has progressively improve with President William Ruto tremendous achievements so far in education sector.

Toto used the opportunity to urge TSC to fast track the transfer of delocalized teachers where most of the teachers from Bomet working in other counties were denied their transfers despite the government scrapping the delocalization programme. We also called for expedite promotion of teachers and their welfare well gathered for. She said teachers can not condone to stagnant in one job group for ever.

She challenged the Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC) to urgently review the salaries for the teachers saying it is unacceptable for the SRC to give low pay to teachers experiencing harsh economic times and environment reality. She said the Ministry has put in place affirmative action programs in a bid to improve access to quality and affordable learning, especially for women, youth and marginalized counties. 

Toto further said she will ensure the county gets its fair share of teachers as well as continue to provide financial support through Affirmative Action to increase transition, retention and completion rates in the county and achieve 100% transition policy. She asked the Ministry of Education and other political leadership to take more actions to elevate education sector in Bomet County to be at par with the rest of the nation.
